Meet the Optometrist

Dr. Eric M. Selander, O.D. is fully licensed and board certified and maintains ongoing education to stay abreast of the latest trends in the optometric field. Read on to learn more about our staff.

Dr. Selander has been practicing optometry since 1999, and opened our current Athens office in 2005, where he has practiced full time since. In 2019, he took the bold step to adopt a Direct Eye Care approach. 'Now I work for my patients, not insurance companies,' he often remarks. Direct Eye Care allows us him to spend more time with each patient, caring for their needs rather than satisfying insurance companies' demands, while also reducing patients' costs. His patient-first approach has been rewarded with Best-of-the-Best nominations in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Liberty Eye Care is a family affair! Dr. Selander is joined by his beautiful, gregarious wife, Erin, as office manager. She wears a multitude of hats, from receptionist to technician to contact lens trainer in order to keep the practice running smoothly! 

And, we're excited to have Sherry Seymour recently join our staff as both a receptionist and optometric tech! We're confident you will enjoy her help as much as we have.
